Why Digital Literacy?
As an English major minoring in Rhetoric & Composition, sharing, writing, and storytelling is ubiquitous in my daily life and work. In any class or profession, connection or relationship, being able to effectively communicate and express ideas is essential. The English major has served me well so far in my college experience, granting me the literary skills to produce compelling pieces of work, and has provided me with several engaging internships as a result. I’ve found the Rhetoric & Composition minor especially helpful, as it enhances the English major by extending my outlook on writing and understanding on how to write for different audiences. As I enter my final semester of undergraduate classes, I’m excited to learn about digital literacy and how I can translate my writing skills into greater online intelligence. As digital media expands exponentially, and an increasing number literary sources migrating online, successful reading and writing skills only grow more important.
Thanks for reading, and I’m looking forward to getting started in the class!
